THE ART OF THE BELT: INSIDE ANDERSON'S 70 YEAR LEGACY OF ITALIAN CRAFTSMANSHIP

In an era obsessed with speed, few luxury houses remain as devoted to tradition as Anderson’s. For more than seven decades, the Italian belt maker has quietly perfected its craft in Parma, producing every belt in the very city where the brand was born and nowhere else.

Nestled in Northern Italy, Parma is celebrated not only for its culinary heritage but also for its reputation as a centre of exceptional leather craftsmanship. It is a place where quality is not merely a standard but a way of life, shaped by generations of artisans whose dedication to excellence remains unwavering. Anderson’s is a product of that culture, a brand built on passion, precision and an enduring respect for authentic craftsmanship.

Founded by master leatherworker Carlo Valenti, Anderson’s emerged from a long family tradition of leather artisanship. From the beginning, the factory established itself as a benchmark for quality, combining meticulous handcraftsmanship with evolving technologies and innovative finishing techniques. It was this balance of heritage and progress that would become the brand’s defining signature.

Family remains at the heart of Anderson’s. Across generations, a shared commitment to craftsmanship has ensured that every belt reflects the same values upon which the company was founded. It is a philosophy rooted in authenticity, where the maker remains as important as the product itself.

An admirer of British tailoring, Valenti named the company after the legendary Savile Row house Anderson & Sheppard, a subtle nod to the elegance and refinement that would influence the brand’s aesthetic. By the late 1980s, Anderson’s was ready to evolve from a respected manufacturer into a globally recognised luxury label.

Today, Anderson’s collection extends far beyond its celebrated woven styles. From stretch woven belts crafted in hundreds of colour combinations to intricate handmade tubular weaves, alongside traditional saddle leather designs, luxurious suede, supple nappa leather and exotic skins, each piece embodies the same commitment to quality that has defined the brand for generations.

For Anderson’s, the making of a belt is not simply a matter of technique. It is a philosophy, one that understands craftsmanship as a conversation between past, present and future.

“To make the best belt requires the perfect balance of the past, your skills and identity, your heritage, personality and procedures; the present, your people and the tools they use; and the future,” says Valenti. “You have to improve and you have to improve for tomorrow. And that is pretty much what it takes to make the best of anything.”

What began in a Parma workshop now reaches a global audience. Anderson’s belts can be found in some of the world's most discerning destinations, from progressive independent boutiques and heritage tailoring houses to prestigious department stores across more than 80 countries.

Yet despite its international success, the essence of Anderson’s remains unchanged. Every belt is still made in Parma. Every detail is still carefully considered. And every piece carries with it a story of Italian craftsmanship, family heritage and timeless style.

In luxury fashion, authenticity is often claimed. At Anderson’s, it is woven into every belt.
